The one and only star and singing voice of this film, Grant Hart, the lucid yet damaged drummer of Hüsker Dü, soberly analyses the great American punk tripartite of the 80s while rummaging around in its soul. Every Everything is the perfect title: it all comes out, and what’s more, it’s told by an articulate, alienated and ill-tempered chronicler, brimming with vulnerability, wide-ranging hatred, and terrible addiction. Director Gorman Bechard doesn’t beat around the bush, this is a bold and original documentary with big ideas and big noise. He gets Hart to open his deep dark soul and in doing so fractures ours.
With a live performance by Grant Hart following the screening.
