Job Descriptions

Lobby / Usher
Lobby and usher volunteers provide crowd control—checking tickets, clearing the theater, and reminding attendees gathered in the lobby to respect the viewing experience of people in the theater. Volunteers must be firm but gentle and solicitous.

Box Office / Merchandise
Box office volunteers sell tickets and distribute passes as well as operate the merchandise table. Volunteers must be comfortable running a cash register and credit card machine as well as working quickly when lines have formed.

Special Events
Special events volunteers provide logistical support during parties and panels. Volunteers must be willing to help set up and clean up off-site venues as well as help transport food and beverages. Please be aware of he following special requests of special event volunteers: Check in when you arrive on-site, always wear your BSDFF shirt, dress up a little, no jeans, no eating during the event and no drinking of alcohol.

Filmmaker Lounge
Filmmaker lounge volunteers provide hospitality to filmmakers taking advantage of BSDFF’s lounge. Volunteers must know Missoula well and be able to help our guests feel comfortable during their stay; routine setup and cleanup may also be required.

Projection
Projection volunteers start and end films and ensure the quality of the sound and picture during the show. Volunteers must be comfortable working with advanced electronics. Additional training will be supplied.

Marketing / Street Team
Marketing and street team volunteers will get out the word about BSDFF by distributing festival programs and putting up posters. Volunteers must be enthusiastic and creative in reaching everyone in Missoula who might be interested in BSDFF’s variety of engaging films.

Festival Office
Festival office volunteers provide behind-the-scenes support to festival staff. Volunteers must possess word processing, clerical and phone skills.
