THE FATHER, THE SON AND THE HOLY JIHAD tells the story of a Franco-Syrian family, the Ayachis. Bassam the father moved to France in the late 60s. This erudite man married a French woman, soon converted. Together they raised their children in Islam. When the revolution breaks out in Syria, the eldest son Abdelrahman and later the father Bassam, leave for the land of their ancestors to make jihad against Assad and ISIS. In Belgium, where the rest of the family lives and in Syria director Stéphane Malterre filmed for three years the controversial fate of the Ayachis, marked by tragic events.
