MISSOULA
Nestled in the Rocky Mountains of western Montana, Missoula lies at the heart of five valleys and three major rivers. Located roughly halfway between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, Missoula's dramatic landscape lends itself to both the arts and the imagination. Its blend of small-town charm and big-city sophistication has earned Missoula the reputation of a premier cultural and recreational destination. John Updike dubbed Missoula the "Paris of the 90's," a flattering exaggeration. Recently, Garrison Keillor more accurately said "Missoula, it's just sort of a place unto itself. It's like Montana but it has feng shui and herb tea."

Missoula is home to the University of Montana and to a wealth of recreation opportunities, art galleries, coffeehouses, pubs, breweries and movie theaters, all contributing to Missoula's thriving downtown and "hip strip." One of the first things visitors notice is Missoula's friendly and active community. The people who live here are happy they do, and it shows.
